Abstract
This study attempted to design inferential tasks training for right-hemisphere- damaged adults and to determine its effects on improving their inference- integration and generation abilities. The subjects were 3 adults without left-neglect who had brain damage due to a cerebrovascular accident that was restricted to the right hemisphere. Moreover their scores on behavioral observation profile of RICE were within moderate to mild. This inferential tasks consisted of two parts; inferential integration tasks and generation tasks. Integration tasks included picture arrangement and recognizing commonalities and generation tasks had story continuations and comprehension of individual inferences as subtasks. This inferential tasks training was effective on improving inference- integration ability of right-hemisphere-damaged adults. All subjects performed the tasks better after than before the treatment. Additionally, in further analysis it was revealed that causal arrangement seemed to pose a greater challenge for them than procedural arrangement.
